Ms. Christancho, FAST Kindergarten Paraprofessional, takes students on a fun and educational exploration of the Spanish culture. Through immersion into the language, people, art and music, students gain appreciation of Spanish heritage while learning to speak the language. Students will be provided Carson Dellosa Complete Book of Spanish Workbook for Kids, School Zone Bilingual Beginning Basic Sight Words Flash Cards, Scholastic Let’s Find Out magazine in Spanish, as well as other handouts.#b1f9bd

Ivy Bridge Academy’s Public Speaking program offers upper elementary students an opportunity to learn and engage with age-appropriate current events through the activity of debate. Students enhance their research skills, critical thinking, organizational skills, persuasion tactics, and information processing by learning about both sides of an issue, and being able to argue either side. Our program provides student with a sense of accomplishment, confidence, and skills through their schooling.

Ivy Bridge Academy Debate program offers middle school students an opportunity to learn and engage with current events through the activity of debate. Students enhance their research skills, critical thinking, organizational skills, persuasion tactics, and information processing by learning about both sides of an issue, and being able to argue either side. Our program provides student with a sense of accomplishment, confidence, and skills that last a lifetime.

Mr. McKinley’s MARINE BIOLOGY Grades 3rd – 8th

Mr. McKinley, FAST 6th grade science teacher exposes students to the importance of oceans in their daily lives. Students will learn about local and global threats to coastlines, and will explore solutions for conservation. Students will learn about environmental stewardship in preserving our biodiversity. We will use modules from the Marine Conservation Science & Policy Curriculum (MCS&P), for hands-on activities and research project opportunities (e.g., Ocean Zones, Coral Reefs, Barrier Islands, Everglades, Salt Marshes, Sandy Shores, Cartilaginous Fish/Shark Dissection, and Invertebrate/Squid Dissection). I will also draw from activities from my 14 years as Senior Environmental Educator/Sleepover Guide at the Georgia Aquarium. Culmination of the club will end with 2 tickets to an Interactive Animal Program at the Georgia Aquarium in early May includes 2 admission tickets to the Georgia Aquarium and 2 Animal Encounter tickets (e.g., penguins,  sea lions, or dolphins, etc.)

CHESS ATLANTA Grades K – 6th (Groups based on grade and skill level)

International chess champion Carlos Perdomo offers students instruction based on individual skill level in a fun, yet structured environment. Students learn effective tactics, how to use a chess clock, how to play against a computer, chess puzzles, etc. Students have the opportunity to play in local tournaments: standard chess, Bughouse (team chess), and Blitz (speed chess)! Awards are given for Class Champion, Most Improved, and Sportsmanship. All students complete the semester with a sense of motivation and accomplishment.

DISCOVER MARINE SCIENCE Grades 1st – 5th

Discover Marine Science is an after-school science enrichment program aimed at children interested learning about the ocean and marine biology. Each class, developed by marine biologists and educators, includes knowledge development and hands-on learning activities. Every week we cover a new topic, from saltwater density experiments and learning how sand is made, to squid dissections and examining shark skin.

KalashramUSA, School of Kathak Dance & Performing Arts is an institution dedicated to preserve and promote cultural heritage by teaching and performing the North Indian classical dance ‘Kathak’ of Lucknow tradition. Kala means ‘Arts’ and ashram means ‘A Dedicated Space’, hence KalashramUSA provides dedicated space to practice arts. We are committed to provide a fun and safe learning environment for students of all ages in Atlanta, Georgia. Anurag Sharma is the Founder, Artistic Director & Master Teacher of the KalashramUSA School of Kathak Dance & Performing Arts. Anurag’s goal is to promote Kathak dance of Lucknow tradition in the USA under the lineage of his Guru and Kathak Maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj.

Accela Canvas Art Program has the ability to develop students visual and spatial skills, and allows for development of skills in how to interpret and use visual information. All of our artwork is done on canvas using mixed media (e.g., acrylic paints, watercolors, etc.). Students follow guided instruction while learning to focus on details, hand-eye coordination, problem solving skills, all while building confidence in their creative abilities. You will be truly amazed at the artwork your child brings home each week!
