ROSWELL, GA – Families interested in admission at Fulton Academy of Science and Technology (FAST) for the 2020-2021 school year are now able to sign up for campus tours and information sessions. The lottery application window will open on January 1, 2019 and close on February 5, 2019. The lottery will take place on February 14, 2019.
FAST’s mission is to provide an education based on design thinking and problem-solving with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to K-8 children in the diverse Fulton County community. FAST’s goal is to prepare children in a way that provides them a foundation to be creative innovators and problem solvers so they are prepared for success and leadership in our rapidly changing world. With the diverse demographics of our existing community serving as the background theme for academics, children will develop the foundations for learning and thinking that prepares them for success in post-secondary education and careers.
Tours will begin with a presentation by the FAST administration at 8:00am on the following dates: October 30th, November 6th and 20th, December 11th, and January 15th and 29th. Interested families are asked to sign up at the school’s website, www.fastk8.org, or call 678-321-1100 for a tour.
FAST is also offering two in-depth information sessions on December 10 and January 11. These sessions will give parents a closer look at FAST’s philosophy and curriculum and will include time for questions and answers with Principal Stan Beiner. The sign-up for the information sessions is also on the school’s website.
According to Principal Stan Beiner, “There are several different reasons why people choose FAST. Our focus is on teaching children how to think. That doesn’t sound different from other schools except for the fact that our schedule is actually designed to support this process. We are also far more diverse than most schools found in Fulton County and we celebrate each group’s uniqueness as well as the many more values that bind us.
And finally, our charter positions us to be open to change that is not dependent on a time table. FAST is a vibrant place which I loved as a teacher and I continue to value as its principal.”
FAST opened its doors in 2016 and now serves almost 600 students in grades K-8. FAST is a public charter school and is located in Roswell, GA. The only eligibility requirement for students is that they live within the Fulton County Schools district.
